Michael Gutsche is a Security Strategist within the Enterprise Security Products business unit at Microfocus. In this role, Mr. Gutsche is responsible for driving strategic initiatives for the ESP Security Strategy group and providing thought leadership and insight regarding the ever changing global threat landscape.

Mr. Gutsche comes to Microfocus with over 20 years of experience building large enterprise security and operations programs. As the Senior Vice President of Core Operations at MasterCard, Michael was responsible for the security, safety, and reliability of one of the largest payment networks on the planet. Responsible for more than $5 trillion dollars of transactions per year, Michael transformed decades old processes, technologies and capabilities into a state of the art integrated network and security operations center. Michael was also responsible for the Cyber Security Program and Technical Risk Committee, where he worked to ensure that MasterCard was always ready to respond to the global threat landscape.

Earlier in his career, Michael served as the CISO for Mercy Health System, a $4 billion dollar integrated health system. Over the 11 years at Mercy, Michael developed an Information Security Strategy that took the program to new heights and made security not just a cost burden, but a strategic enabler. At Mercy, he was responsible for protecting critical assets across thousands of facilities including 45,000 associates millions of patient data records.

Mr. Gutsche’s experience has provided him with key insights into the challenges and approaches to combat today’s cyber threats. With his experiences with large scale operations organizations, he understands the needs of the business and how to position Information Security as a Strategic Pillar for IT. Over the years, he has successfully championed Information Security and Operations programs across financial, pharmaceutical, and health industries.
