Dato' Nor Azmie Diron serves as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy, Malaysia, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s economic landscape. His primary responsibilities include formulating, implementing and monitoring medium and long-term socioeconomic development plans. This encompasses policies and strategies in macroeconomics, energy transition and distribution of the development expenditure. Additionally, he oversees the overall preparation of the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan, 2026 - 2030. Dato' Nor Azmie Diron began his career in civil service in 1995 as a Diplomatic and Administrative Officer. Throughout his career, he gathered vast experiences in both Federal and State Government. His prior positions include roles at the Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Entrepreneur Development, Prime Minister’s Department and Selangor Economic Planning Unit. In 2015, he was appointed as the Deputy Selangor State Secretary (Development) before being promoted as Selangor State Finance Officer in 2018 and subsequently as the State Secretary of Selangor. In 2021, he was appointed as the Deputy Director General (Macro), Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department before assuming his current role in 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from Universiti Malaya (1993) and a Master in Information Technology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (2004). He has also broadened his expertise through prestigious programs, including the Advanced Management Development Program at the Harvard Business School (2009) and Leadership and Strategic Thinking Courses at Columbia University (2014).
