David is currently the Head of Data Services and Compliance at the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA). The NSTA’s role is to work with the industry and government on economic recovery of the UK’s oil and gas resources, whilst also supporting the move to net zero carbon by 2050. David’s role involves ensuring data is reported in a compliant manner, which in turn allows that data to be subsequently disclosed to industry, academia and to wider society.

David has worked in the oil industry since 1985, initially for UK major oil companies, moving into a major oilfield services company in 1997, then to the OGA (now NSTA) in 2016. David’s roles in oil companies were in the cartographic and geospatial domains, but since 1997 has been involved in knowledge, information and data management.
