Jean Bergevin is a UK educated industrial economist (PhD) who, prior to beginning his career in the European Commission  in 1989, held positions in IEA Coal research and the UK Department of Trade and Industry (Industrial materials and metals Division). He has held several positions  during his Commission career and was a Head of Unit  in DG MARKT (services) and DG GROW (Industrial Property Rights).  More recently, he was the Head of Unit  DG COMP D2 (antitrust enforcement in  financial services markets) until September  2022 when he opted out of management to return to DG GROW as a senior expert in GROW I1 (Raw Materials and Energy Intensive Industries (EII) ). He currently works on the decarbonisation pathways for European EIIs  and the development of the European clean and low carbon hydrogen market.
