Cristina is a renowned expert in CO₂ capture and CO2 utilisation technologies, committed to driving large-scale decarbonisation solutions. With 30 years of experience working with major industry leaders, she has played a pivotal role in advancing innovative carbon strategies that accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future. Her career spans early-stage innovation in a startup followed by nearly two decades at Shell where she led transformative CCUS initiatives. In her current role as a General Director of Arcade Catalyst, she continues to shape the future of carbon capture, utilisation, and storage.
Having successfully delivered over 15 large-scale projects and guided strategic implementations across Shell's CO₂ Capture and Utilisation Technology Portfolios, Cristina brings rare depth to the question of what it takes to move CCU from innovation to industrial scale. Her hands-on experience, from commercial catalyst production to high-profile deployments in CCS as well as emerging innitiatives as ViennaGreenCO₂ and TulipGreenCO₂, gives her an unmatched perspective on the technical and commercial realities of scaling CCU technologies.
At this session, Cristina will draw on this experience to address the economics underpinning CCU scale-up and what makes CCU projects bankable. As CCU matures into a cornerstone of industrial decarbonisation, her insights into aligning technical viability with commercial scalability and her expanding expertise in carbon credits and market-driven sustainability make her uniquely placed to chart the path from pilot to profitable.
