Douwe van Leverink is Director of Development at EBN, the public energy company of the Netherlands. In this role, he is responsible for strategy and new business development. The latter focusses on hydrogen and renewable gas, contributing to the country’s transition toward a low-carbon energy system.

With a background in geology, Van Leverink brings deep technical expertise and strategic insight to his work. Prior to joining EBN, he held positions at Shell and TNO, where he worked on subsurface energy systems and innovation in energy technologies.

At EBN, Van Leverink is responsible for shaping and accelerating projects that are critical to the future of Dutch energy infrastructure, including offshore hydrogen production (e.g. PosHYdon), underground hydrogen storage, and the scaling of green gas initiatives. His work bridges public interests and private innovation, ensuring that the Netherlands remains resilient and forward-looking in its energy policy and practice.
