Emma Richardson is Energy and Environment Advisor within the Strategy Directorate at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). She leads key stakeholder engagement and strategy projects in collaboration with scientists across the laboratory in areas such as hydrogen, high energy density batteries and carbon capture, utilisation and storage. Emma was seconded to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in 2018 to design a new programme that looked to fund innovation activity within the themes of industrial decarbonisation and energy storage.

Prior to joining NPL, Emma ran the Environmental Initiatives Project within a London-based housing developer, which aimed to retrofit innovative low carbon solutions into existing building stock. Emma has a BSc in Geography from the University of Leicester.
