Following 25 years’ experience in the chemical industry, John is the CEO for Peak Cluster, an organisation bringing together the UK’s leading producers and investors to deliver the world’s largest cement decarbonisation initiatives. 

As one of the UK’s most ambitious industrial decarbonisation projects, Peak Cluster is working to secure a sustainable future for UK’s cement and lime sector, decarbonising 40% of the UK’s production using carbon capture and storage technology.

As a Chartered Chemical Engineer, with a MA and MEng in Chemical Engineering from University of Cambridge, John has held senior roles in operations, technical leadership, and project management across global manufacturing firms, developing a strong foundation in process engineering, sustainable energy, and industrial innovation.

John passionately believes in ‘decarbonisation, not deindustrialisation’, ensuring the UK’s heavy industries remain competitive while transitioning to net zero.  As a regular speaker at industry events and educational institutions, John inspires future engineers by highlighting the role of engineering in solving climate challenges.  In his spare time, John is a Director of Cheshire Heritage and Sustainability Enterprises, a Community Interest Company, seeking to repurpose the former hydro-electric generating station building on the River Dee in Chester as a sustainability education facility.
