Martyn is a highly experienced strategist who is passionate about helping organisations navigate the energy transition to deliver resilient and sustainable growth.
Martyn led the corporate strategy team within Wood Plc for 11 years and pioneered the company’s pivot towards the energy transition – seeing the share of the $7bn revenue from oil & gas drop from 96% to 35% during his tenure. His work led to recognition from the EIC and OGUK for energy transition leadership, and the first ever green transition loan from the UKEF of £430m.
Martyn shaped the M&A selection, strategic rationale, and organizational design for the acquisition of AMEC Foster Wheeler, as well as the prior restructure of Wood Group to enable such a transformational deal.
Martyn is a scientist by training, have two degrees from Edinburgh University. He began his career at Wood Mackenzie where he focused on corporate strategy and competitive intelligence in the Life Science industry. Martyn subsequently helped shape the investment portfolio of a biotechnology innovation fund before joining Wood. He now runs his own strategy and energy transition advisory practice.
