Morecambe Net Zero (MNZ) is Spirit Energy’s CCS project located at its Barrow-in Furness facility in the North West of England. The project will utilise the depleted gas reservoirs in the East Irish Sea to store up to 1 gigaton of Carbon for the next 40 years or more. The store facility has a carbon storage _cement and lime manufacturing capacity from the Peak district.

Infrastructure enablers through shipping at the Port of Barrow, onshore and offshore pipeline solutions and rail connectivity will come together to enable the cluster to store up to 25 million tonnes of carbon per annum from 2030 onwards as well as integrate with new opportunities such as an energy park, power generation and R&D facilities made possible by the cluster.
