Eastern Lights is a Horizon Europe–funded initiative pioneering the development of a large-scale Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) cluster in Eastern Europe. Centered in North-West Bulgaria and supported by 19 partners across 8 countries, the project works to reduce CO₂ emissions by demonstrating safe storage, testing cross-border transport solutions, and supporting policy development. By combining research, industrial expertise, and community engagement, Eastern Lights is laying the foundation for large-scale decarbonisation in the region and contributing to Europe’s 2050 climate neutrality goals.
